DAI Armenia seeks a candidate for the position of Regional Lead in the Shirak region of Armenia. The main function of the Regional Lead position is to oversee the technical implementation of the SIGMA project interventions in the Shirak region. This is a mid-level position that will include some project management, research, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and knowledge management functions. The post holder will be a member of the project senior management team which will meet at defined periods to review and position the project for successful delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: 
Responsibilities of the Regional Leads include, but are not limited to the following:
- Participate in the planning of interventions, based on ongoing analysis of the situation in Shirak region;
- Participate in identification, selection and preparation of potential implementing partners and beneficiaries in the regions;
- Ensure communication with all implementing partners, central office, beneficiaries, local/ regional authorities, etc.;
- Monitor and oversee all project interventions in the regions;
- Ensure technical quality and effectiveness of project interventions in the regions;
- Conduct regular field visits to assess progress and provide technical support to project partners;
- Identify technical gaps and provide recommendations to the project Team Lead for adjustments and take steps to solve the problems on the spot;
- Conduct periodical performance reviews and contract audits in the region to ensure compliance with project objectives, contract terms, and quality standards;
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and project policies and procedures;
- Provide regular progress reports to the project Team Lead and the M&E expert;
- Support the organization of local events and other logistics related issues envisaged in the regions;
- Document best practices and lessons learned from project interventions in the regions;
- Participate in knowledge sharing activities, including trainings, workshops, and meetings;
- Support efforts to increase the awareness and visibility of SIGMA in the region.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
: 
The list of required skills and qualifications of the candidates include, but are not limited to the following:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Tourism, or Project Management;
- At least 3 years of experience in implementing agriculture and/ or rural tourism development programs in one of the target regions;
- Experience in working/ cooperating with international organizations is an asset;
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture practices and experience in addressing climate resilience challenges is an advantage;
- Established network of contacts with various stakeholders, including local authorities, market units, farmers, investors, and other relevant actors in the region;
- Experience in Market System Development initiatives is an asset;
- English writing, communication and reporting skills;
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse data and draw insights that inform decision-making;
- Project management skills and experience, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities;
- Ability to work independently and in a team and to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously;
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.

ABOUT

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has tendered the Sustainable Inclusive Growth in Mountainous Armenia (SIGMA) project in Armenia (Preparatory Phase and Phase 1, 2022-2026), delivered jointly by DAI and AM Partners. The project focuses on areas at higher altitudes in Northern Armenia, which face significant poverty due to their over-reliance on low-productive subsistence farming, with the view of supporting a diversification towards higher-value services and products and new markets. The overall objective of the project is: Poverty and inequality in mountainous areas are reduced thanks to higher incomes and employment opportunities through the environment and climate-friendly, inclusive rural market systems. The project follows a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach to support private sector development and growth in selected sectors. The Preparatory Phase started in December 2022.
